The 3 most charming villages to visit at Christmas in North of Italy

Christmas is perhaps the most awaited time of the year by young and old.

There is nothing more enchanting than the lavish snow-filled landscapes filled with wooden chalets in the Alps or the illuminated valleys and villages of the Dolomites.

1. Levico Terme (Trentino Alto Adige)

Levico is in fact a resort famous for its spa vocation.During the Christmas season, the traditional Christmas market takes place, which has the touch of an authentic fairy tale. A journey to discover the excellence of crafts and gastronomy.  You can discover the streets of the old town and historic stores richly decorated for Christmas.

2. Toirano (Liguria)

During the Christmas season, the Nativity Scenes Itinerary takes place here, with nativity scenes displayed in a shop window or in a place that faces the street. In recent years, the Varatella Valley Ethnographic Museum has worked to develop the event, not only motivating local people but also involving enthusiasts, artists and associations.

The event currently has about 200 nativity scenes displayed in the town’s caruggi during the Christmas season.

  1. Ortisei (Bolzano)

Located in Val Gardena, it is in close proximity to the ski lifts. It is a typical breathtaking alpine village with its quaint little wooden houses and smoking fireplaces. Its Christmas market is really very picturesque: full of local handicrafts and typical food will make you feel the real sense of Christmas.
