How will eating habits of Italians change in 2021?

What are the new trends in the covid and post-covid era? Here is what the experts predict for this new year in 7 points:

1) The ghost kitchen

Probably the most important revolution after the birth and consumption of frozen foods are the restaurants with no dining room, therefore no seating. The health crisis has favored take-away food and therefore places where there is kitchen but clients are not allowed to consume food.

2) Author’s box

We have also the semi-prepared food by a chef (often starred) to be completed at home with all the chef’s instructions.

3) Online cooking classes

All of us, due to the Covid, even if we don’t love it, started cooking. Many have found themselves passionate about cooking and have especially prepared traditional dishes. That’s why online cooking classes will grow like mushrooms and will be a great opportunity to learn local dishes without necessarily having to travel.

4) Legumes, vegetables and coffee

Among all legumes, chickpeas will be the real stars of 2021. The consumption of vegetables will grow above all as snacks and coffee, as well as home-made tea, will always be tastier like at the bar.

5) Relax drink

In recent years we have seen the growth of energy drinks. In contrast,  with all the problems deriving from Covid, many people have suffered above all many sleep disorders or anxiety issues. For this reason, many relaxing ready-made drinks will be consumed which will promote sleep and digestion.

6) The climate diet

Dietary regimes will be adopted in full respect of the life of animals and the planet, the watchword: sustainability

7) Solidarity

The health crisis has created a new social division and the new challenge is how to overcome hunger, especially in big cities. In response to this, we will see more and more Restaurants, Associations, Supermarkets and free citizens united in a great act of solidarity towards those most in need.
